Visit Marrakech: Top 15 Must-See Things to See and Do
Even if Marrakech is certainly not the most authentic city in Morocco, it is still one of the most preferred destinations to disconnect just 2h30 from France for a weekend of 2- 3 days. This must be the tenth time that I come here and in the end I always rediscover the red city

This time I went on a trip to Marrakech in collaboration with the site-private Le Voyage to list my favorites and other must-see things to see and do

Sleep in a traditional riad, have dinner on the go in Jemma El Fna, admire the sunset from a roof top of the Medina sipping a mint tea, relax in the hammam, hunt the decor in the souks and at home. creators, to refresh oneself in the green gardens, and so on; this is the basic recipe for a good weekend in Marrakech! But there is still more to discover

Even if the city is growing at a high speed, some parts of Marrakech still have the soul and atmosphere of yesteryear. To discover and impregnate, you must move away from Jemma El Fna square to get lost in this maze of alleys that winds to the end of the medina

Go, place to the visit, in this article I will list my 15 must-sees to see and do in Marrakech. Do not hesitate to enrich the list in comments with your favorites, good addresses and other must-haves

Admire the sunset on a roof top around Jemma el Fna square
If you arrive at the end of the after-mini in Marrakech, then I advise you to start your stay admiring sunset on the terrace of the Grand Balcon overlooking Jemma El Fna and offering a view (the most beautiful) at 180 ° in the lively square and on the Koutoubia mosque. By cons do not expect to enjoy the best mint tea ... And yes we can not have everything

At sunset time there is a crowd, so plan to come early (at least an hour before) to have a front row seat and enjoy the view

Dinner under the stands of the Jemma el Fna square
Then I advise you to have dinner on the run in the stands located in the center of the square. I warn you, you will be alpagués by many people, but it's the game! I went to stand 42, run by Rachida, the only woman in the square who runs a stall. A delight ! Choice: tajine, couscous (Friday), mixed skewers, chops, Moroccan salad, etc

Sleep in a riad in Marrakech
If you agree, if you come to Marrakech, it's still more fun and authentic to sleep in a traditional riad, especially if you come as a couple! In some of them it is almost like a little palace of a thousand and one nights ... Many are green, with a pond, a fountain or pool in the heart of the patio and a beautiful terrace to admire the rooftops of the medina

The decoration can vary from one decor to another ... And yes, some have more taste than others! It can go from riad kitch multicolored riad with an elegant, refined and contemporary hair but still inspired oriental. This was particularly the case of Riad Danka, a gem where I stayed for three nights. It is located in the heart of the medina 30 meters from the Place des Epices. Count for this one about 140 € / night

I also slept in the riad Al Anouwar, located Bab Hmer, still in the medina but a little out of the way in a less tourist area. The standing is lower than the riad Danka, but the value for money is correct. Count here 60 € / night

If you come with young children as a family, then I may suggest that you opt for a hotel with more services and activities for children. Privilege downtown Marrakech rather than the district of the Palmeraie because you will be really eccentric for the coup (10 to 15 minutes taxi min

And if you want to live a unique experience on the occasion of a birthday or another event, I suggest you to offer yourself or to be offered a night in an exceptional place like La Mamounia, the palace Es Saadi, the Namaskar Palace or the famous Royal Mansour, considered one of the most beautiful hotels in the world. You can read here my article on the Royal Mansour

In any case, in Marrakech, there is something for every budget and every taste

Visit the Majorelle Garden
This is the essential step on a trip to Marrakech! In any case, concerning me, on each of my travels I make a passage of one hour in the Jardin Majorelle. This is one of the most visited sites in the city (600 000 visitors a year) and there is often a crowd, which is why I advise you to come to the opening early in the morning to enjoy more from this little haven of peace

The site created by the painter Jacques Majorelle in 1931 is known for its green garden which houses nearly 3,000 species of plants on one hectare. There is a bamboo plantation, cacti, palm trees, bougainvilleas, banana trees, cypresses and many others. A wide variety of exotic plants brought from all over the world during the painter's travels

There are also small canals that cross the garden and flow into a large pond with a fountain where you can see water lilies and lotus flowers. But the Majorelle Garden is also known for this beautiful Moorish style villa and art deco blue, which is also called Majorelle blue

The setting is relaxing and rejuvenating it's a good idea, especially when you come from the noisy medina

Before leaving, do not miss a visit to the Berber museum. We discover jewelry and period costumes, we also learn a lot about Berber culture and ancestral knowledge

Visit the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech
Just out of the Jardin Majorelle, go 20 meters on your left to the new museum Yves Saint Laurent which opened just a year ago. Fashion enthusiasts will be delighted! There are the most famous designer creations, photos of models and fashion shows, as well as a series of photographs by Catherine Deneuve

But in the end what I was most excited about is the contemporary architecture (and Moroccan influence) of the building. The curves are elegant, there are beautiful volumes, and the mixture of materials is harmonious
